Martha Stewart is the face of Waymo’s new Ojai, a ‘living room on wheels’

Domestic goddess Martha Stewart has given her stamp of approval to Waymo’s newest autonomous vehicle, the Ojai.

Stewart partnered with Google-owned Waymo for a spot promoting the Ojai, a roomier alternative to Waymo’s increasingly ubiquitous Jaguar I-PACE cars. The Ojai, now available for driverless rides in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Phoenix, features automatic sliding doors, a comfier interior, and three large in-car screens outfitted with (what else?) Gemini AI tech.

Waymo refers to the Ojai as a “living room on wheels.” The custom-made Ojai certainly seems like an upgrade from the Jaguars, but it lacks the innovative carriage-style seating offered by Zoox, Amazon’s robotaxi company. Zoox allows riders to sit across from each other and the vehicles can drive in either direction seamlessly since they don’t have a formal front or rear.

Zoox, though, is only available to the public in Las Vegas. Besides offering service to nearly a dozen Sun Belt cities (and San Francisco), Waymo plans to launch in places like New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Tokyo, according to its website.
