XRP debuts on X as Ripple and XRP Ledger Foundation welcome account

XRP has made its debut on X with a 10-second logo video, drawing public welcomes from Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation on Oct. 19.

Summary

  • XRP debuted on X with a 10-second logo video and the message “hello, world. It’s about time.”
  • Ripple welcomed the account, citing over a decade of work alongside XRP Ledger contributors.
  • The XRP Ledger Foundation greeted the account with “New era” and an animated terminal graphic.
  • The debut post had drawn 52,900 views when the supplied screenshot was captured.

Ripple described its work on the XRP Ledger alongside thousands of other contributors when it quoted the new account’s opening message.

XRP opens with a brief greeting and logo video

The XRP account’s first post carried a short greeting.

A screenshot of the post shows a metallic XRP symbol against a dark background. The captured post had 52,900 views at the time the image was taken.

Ripple’s response appeared minutes later. Its quoted post included the original greeting and the same logo video.

“For over a decade, we’ve built on the XRP Ledger alongside thousands of others.”

The company followed that statement with a welcome to the new account. In its own response, the XRP Ledger Foundation used the phrase “New era” and welcomed XRP with an animated terminal graphic.

Neither welcome described a product launch, token distribution, or change to the ledger’s transaction rules.

XRP Ledger changes require validator approval

XRPL’s technical documentation describes a formal voting process for changes to the network’s transaction rules. Validator operators can configure their votes, while only votes from trusted validators count toward amendment approval.

An amendment must retain support from more than 80% of trusted validators for two weeks before activation. If support falls below the threshold, the waiting period restarts, according to the documentation.

A historical example appeared on Aug. 12, when crypto.news previously reported that Ripple had backed bundled protocol fixes. At that point, fixCleanup3_3_0 had eight affirmative votes among 35 trusted validators on the default list, short of the 29 needed to exceed 80%.

The package covered corrections involving vaults, lending, automated market makers, the permissioned decentralized exchange, checks, and pseudo-accounts. The August figures describe that voting snapshot, not the amendment’s status today.

Earlier software changes affected node operators

In July, the ledger activated a maintenance amendment after 30 of 35 trusted validators supported fixCleanup3_2_0. The July 29 coverage put support at 85.71%, with five votes against.

XRPScan warned that nodes running version 3.1.0 or earlier would become amendment-blocked until their operators upgraded. The report said self-custody holders did not need to exchange their tokens or move funds because of the amendment.

Version 3.2.0 renamed the reference server software from rippled to xrpld. The accompanying migration involved configuration filenames, database paths, packages, scripts, and service settings, according to that coverage.

Ripple’s US brokerage services include XRP trading

Ripple’s commercial operations include services beyond ledger development. An Oct. 8 examination of its US prime brokerage services described over-the-counter spot execution involving XRP, RLUSD and other assets, with cross-margining against derivatives.

The same coverage examined Ripple’s Oct. 6 announcement that Brevan Howard funds would use Ripple Prime for brokerage, clearing and financing across asset classes. Brevan Howard’s roughly $35 billion in managed assets represented its firmwide business, not a disclosed balance transferred to the brokerage.

The announcement did not disclose an XRP allocation by those funds. Ripple’s August Delta One launch offered total return swaps referencing US-listed equities, indexes, and digital assets.

XRP price was up 2.4% over the day, exchanging hands at $1.30 at press time.
